Ellis County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of 2000, the population was 111,360. Its county seat is Waxahachie. This county is part of the DFW Metroplex and lies just south of Dallas County. Ellis County is named for Richard Ellis, president of the convention that produced the Texas Declaration of Independence.
