Kaufman County is  located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of 2000, the population was 71,313. Its county seat is Kaufman, and the county is part of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Kaufman County and the City of Kaufman are named for David Spangler Kaufman, a U.S. congressman from Texas who was the first Jewish person to serve in Congress from Texas.
