Demographics
As of the census of 2003, there were 98,495
people, 31,131 households, and 24,313 families
residing in the county. The population density was
38/km˛ (98/mi˛). There were 34,084 housing units at
an average density of 15/km˛ (38/mi˛). The racial
makeup of the county was 83.17% White, 1.79% Black
or African American, 0.67% Native American, 0.35%
Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 12.61% from other
races, and 1.38% from two or more races. 7.02% of
the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 31,131 households out of which 38.00%
had children under the age of 18 living with them,
65.60% were married couples living together, 8.70%
had a female householder with no husband present,
and 21.90% were non-families. 18.30% of all
households were made up of individuals and 7.10% had
someone living alone who was 65 years of age or
older. The average household size was 2.75 and the
average family size was 3.11.
In Parker county, the population was spread out
with 27.50% under the age of 18, 7.90% from 18 to
24, 29.80% from 25 to 44, 24.20% from 45 to 64, and
10.50% who were 65 years of age or older. The median
age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were
104.10 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over,
there were 102.10 males.
The median income for a household in the county
was $45,497, and the median income for a family was
$51,530. Males had a median income of $37,913 versus
$25,412 for females. The per capita income for the
county was $20,305. About 5.90% of families and
8.30% of the population were below the poverty line,
including 9.30% of those under age 18 and 9.60% of
those age 65 or over.
