Wise County is located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of 2000, the population was 48,793. Its county seat is Decatur. The county is named for Henry Alexander Wise, a U.S. Congressman who supported Texas' annexation. Wise County is considered part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
